Mohamed Salah ruled out of eSwatini AFCON qualifier with injury
Salah played 88 minutes and scored directly from a corner, before leaving the pitch with an injury as Egypt beat eSwatini 4-1 in the third round of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
Egypt assistant coach Hany Ramzy provided an update on Mohamed Salah’s injury following the game, saying it’s not a muscle tear or anything serious.
However, the EFA have confirmed that the Liverpool winger will be ruled out of the return-leg against eSwatini, which will take place next Tuesday.
The EFA have also revealed that Egypt manager Javier Aguirre has decided to let Salah return to Liverpool to get more rest.
On the other hand, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny and Orlando City defender Amro Tarek will make the team despite suffering from injuries on Friday.
Egypt’s win against eSwatini put them second in Group J behind Tunisia, with the top two teams qualify directly for the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon.
