OFFICIAL: Egypt secure qualification for 2019 AFCON
Egypt national team officially qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations ‘AFCON’ in Cameroon after defeating eSwatini in the fourth round of the qualifiers and Tunisia beating Niger in the same round.
Tunisia managed to defeat Niger 1-0 to snatch their qualification ticket to Cameroon helping Egypt qualify as well.
The Pharaohs secured second place after collecting nine points two rounds before the end of the qualifiers. Tunisia are currently leading the Group J with 12 points after four victories.
Both eSwatini and Niger only claimed one point after four rounds which means that it will be impossible for them to catch Egypt or Tunisia and qualify for the 2019 AFCON.
Egypt will be seeking revenge when the team meets Tunisia in the next round on November 16 in a match that will help decide Group J leaders.
The Egyptians suffered their only loss in the qualifiers so far during the first round of the qualifiers when the team was defeated 1-0 in Stade Olympique de Rades in Tunisia.
