Elmohamady: We’re eager to defeat Tunisia, Niger to lead the group
Head coach Javier Aguirre led Egypt to a comfortable 2-0 win over eSwatini in the fourth round of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations ‘AFCON’ qualifiers. The team now collected nine points from three victories and one loss.
“The win is important for the team, we will start now preparing for our clash with Tunisia in the fifth round,” Elmohamady told the press after the match. “We’re eager to defeat Tunisia and Niger to lead the group and enhance our world ranking.”
The Pharaohs have moved from 65th place to 64th place in the latest rankings, an improvement from last month’s rankings after Egypt had dropped out of the top 50, going from 45th to 65th, making them the worst movers in the August rankings.
“The Egyptian team squad includes top-level players, and Aguirre is a g great coach who helps the team attack strongly,” he added.
Aguirre and his men will face Tunisia in the next round on November 16 in a match that will help decide Group J leaders.
