Austrian club to meet Meteb to discuss potential return to football

Emad Meteb

Austrian-Egyptian businessman revealed that he will be meeting veteran Egyptian striker Emad Meteb to talk about his potential return to football through his Austrian club.

Austrian fourth-tier  Mauerwerk owner Mostafa El-Nemr said in radio comments to ON Sport program that he is interested in signing Emad Meteb if the former national team striker is willing to return to football.

Meteb, who is now 35 years old, struggled for game time during his last two years at Al Ahly and had to spend the last six months of his Al Ahly contract on loan at Saudi side , before announcing his retirement.

“Emad Meteb is my friend, and the club's technical advisor Hassan Shehata had a big role in recommending his name when we talked about the team's needs,” El-Nemr said. “I am also friends with TV presenter Ahmed Shobeir who told me that he will talk with Meteb. I will be meeting the player in early November.”

The retired star who was a key part of Al Ahly's golden generation between 2004 and 2013 said earlier that he feels he can still play and that he is willing to return to football if he can play for the Red Devils.

“I heard what Meteb told Shobeir about his desire to return to football and I think he can perform well for a season and a half or two seasons, that's why I wanted him to join our team.

“Negotiations about the deal were only through Shobeir and not through his agent Nader Shawky,” he concluded.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
