Pharaohs Abroad Roundup: Elmohamady assists in Villa's victory over Swansea

KingFut rounds up the Pharaohs Abroad action this week to keep you up to date with Egyptian players overseas.

Mohamed Awad – Al Wehda (Saudi Arabia)

October 18 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Awad played the full 90 minutes as Al Wehda defeated Al Feiha 2-1 in the sixth fixture of the Saudi Pro league. The win takes Al Wehda to the fourth league spot with 12 points ahead of their clash against Ohod on the 26th of October.

Mohamed Atwa – Al Raed (Saudi Arabia)

October 19 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Atwa started and played the full game as his side Al Read were beaten 3-0 at home by Al Fateh. Mohamed Alfehed opened the scoring for the visitors in the 27th minute. Al Raed dominated possession but were punished for not converting their chances when Santos and Almajhad scored two late goals to secure a 3-0 for Al Fateh. Al Raed are in 10th place with their next game being away at Al Faisaly.

Karim Hafez – Istanbul Basaksehir (Turkey)

October 20 – Turkish Super League – Karim Hafez was excluded from the squad that beat Kayserispor 1-0 in the ninth fixture of the Turkish League, thanks to Marcio Mossoro’s first-half strike. The win takes Hafez’s side to the second spot with 18 points ahead of their clash against Konyaspor.

October 20 – English Championship – Egypt’s captain Ahmed Elmohamady assisted Aston Villa’s winner as they defeated Swansea City 1-0 in the 13th fixture of the Championship. Villa’s only goal came through Tammy Abraham, who converted Elmohamady’s cross in the eighth minute. Following the win, Villa occupy the 13th league spot with 18 points and are set to face Norwich City on the 23rd of October.

Hussein El-Shahat – Al Ain (UAE)

October 20 – UAE Arabian Gulf League – El-Shahat started as Al Ain let a 1-0 lead slip away and lost 2-1 to Al Jazira. Al Ain appeared to be heading for a win when Marcus Berg opened the scoring, however, Al Jazira scored twice in the last five minutes through Leonardo and Al Hosani to win it late. The result means Al Ain are third, but only one point behind leaders Sharjah, with their next game being against Ajman next Friday.

Shikabala – Apollon Smyrni (Greece)

October 20 –  Greek Super League – Shikabala played 15 minutes as Apollon Smyrnis lost 2-0 to AEK Athens in the Greek League. Petros Mantalos opened the scoring for the visitors in the 37th minute. Shikabala then came on in the 76th minute for Joel Acosta. In the 85th minute, Marko Livaja scored AEK Athens’ second of the game to secure the win. Following this result, Apollon are currently bottom of the table with zero points. They will face Ahmed Hassan Koka’s Olympiacos in their next game on October 29.

Amr Warda– PAOK FC (Greece)

October 21 –  Greek Super League – Amr Warda featured in the second-half in PAOK’s tough 2-1 victory over Aris Thessaloniki in match day seven of the Greek super league. Aleksander Prijovic scored two goals, including a late penalty, to earn his side their fourth consecutive win. PAOK currently sit top of the table with 19 points and their next game will be against Hungarian side Videoton in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, October 25.

Ahmed Hassan Kouka– Olympiacos (Greece)

October 21 –  Greek Super League – Koka was left out of the squad as Olympiacos slumped to defeat against OFI Crete. Not long before half-time, Vouho scored the winner for OFI Crete with a header, and the island club held on for a famous 1-0 win against the Athens giants. Olympiacos are in 4th place with their next game being against Dudelange in the Europa League on Thursday.

Amro Tarek– Orlando City (United States)

October 21 – MLS – Amro Tarek came on as a second-half substitute in Orlando City’s 2-1 victory over Columbus Crew in the 33rd fixture of the MLS. After the win, Orlando occupy the 21st league spot with 28 points ahead of their encounter against Minnesota United next week.

Aly Ghazal– Vancouver Whitecaps (Canada)

October 21 – MLS – Aly Ghazal played the full 90 minutes as Vancouver Whitecaps came back from behind to draw 2-2 against Los Angeles FC in the 33rd fixture of the MLS. Following the draw, Vancouver occupy the 15th spot with 44 points and are set to face Portland Timbers on October 28.

Mohamed Elneny– Arsenal (England)

October 22 – Premier League Arsenal completed a 3-1 comeback against Leicester City in the Premier League as Mohamed Elneny was left out of the squad. Arsenal went down after Bellerin turned Chilwell’s cross into his own net. Towards the end of the half, Ozil equalized for Arsenal after being played in by Bellerin. Aubameyang scored the second for Arsenal just two minutes after coming on from another Bellerin assist. Three minutes later Aubameyang scored the third for Arsenal after fantastic play from Ozil. Arsenal now move to the fourth spot, having the same points as third-placed Chelsea.

Sam Morsy– Wigan Atheltic (England)

October 23 – Championship – Sam Morsy played the full 90 minutes as Wigan lost 2-1 against Millwall in the 14th fixture of the Championship. After the loss, the Latics occupy the 10th league spot with 20 points ahead of their clash against Sheffield United on the 27th of October.

Ahmed Elmohamdy– Aston Villa (England)

October 23 – Championship – Egypt’s captain Ahmed Elmohamady featured in Aston Villa’s 2-1 defeat against Norwich City in the Championship’s 14th fixture. The loss sinks the Villans to the 16th spot with 18 points. Tjey are set to face Queens Park Rangers on October 26.

Mohamed Atwa – Al Raed (Saudi Arabia)

October 24 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Atwa played the full 90 minutes in Al Raed’s 2-0 loss against Al Faisaly. Joseph Akpala’s brace secured the full three points for the hosts in the seventh fixture of the Saudi Pro League. Following the loss, Al Raed occupy the 11th league spot with five points ahead of their clash against Al Ittihad next week.

Ahmed Hegazi – West Brom (England)

October 24 – Championship – Ahmed Hegazi missed the game as Derby County defeated West Bromwich Albion 4-1 in the 14th fixture of the Championship. Following the loss, the Baggies occupy the fourth league spot with 24 points ahead of their clash against Blackburn Rovers on October 27.

Hussein El-Sayed – Al Ettifaq (Saudi Arabia)

October 25 – Saudi Pro League – Hussein El-Sayed played the full 90 minutes and provided an assist as Al Ettifaq beat Al Hazm in the Saudi League. The only goal of the game came in the additional time of the first-half as Saudi midfielder Mohamed Al Kuwaykibi scored a great volley after a phenomenal cross from El-Sayed onto the far post. Al Ettifaq are currently fourth on the Saudi League table with 14 points just four behind league leader Al Nassr. They will face tenth-placed Al Faisaly in their next game.

Abdallah El-Said and Mohamed AbdelShafy – Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia)

October 25 – Saudi Pro League – Both Abdallah El-Said and Mohamed AbdelShafy played the full 90 minutes as Al Ahli destroyed Al Fateh 5-1 in the Saudi League. Just 17 minutes into the game Cape Verde striker Djaniny Al Ahli’s first goal. Three minutes before half-time, Omar Al Somah scored his side’s second goal of the game, he then went on to complete his brace by scoring the third goal in the 57th minutes. In the 70th minute, Nzuzu Took scored the visitors’ only goal of the game. Six minutes later Djaniny scored his second goal of the game and his side’s fourth. In the 83rd minute Abdulfattah Asiri ended the game by scoring Al Ahli’s fifth goal. Al Ahli are currently second on the Saudi League table with 16 points just two behind league leaders Al Nassr, whom they’ll face in their next game.

Ahmed Hassan Kouka– Olympiacos (Greece)

October 25 –  UEFA Europa League – Koka was left out of the squad due to injury as Olympiacos beat Dudelange 2-0 in the Europa League. Olympiacos looked very dominant and were always threatening Dudelange’s goal in the first-half but they couldn’t convert any of the chances. In the second half, Torosidis scored from a header to give Olympiacos the lead. Towards the end of the match, Fortounis scored the second goal after chipping the keeper. The Greek side now sit in the third place behind Milan by just two points. Olympiacos’ next match will be against Apollon Smyrnis on Monday in the League.

Amr Warda– PAOK FC (Greece)

October 25 –  UEFA Europa League – Amr Warda featured as PAOK lost 2-0 against MOL Vidi. In the first half, Huszti scored the first goal for MOL Vidi after very poor defending from PAOK. Towards the end of the first-half Stopira scored a header to double the lead for the visitors. Warda was brought on in halftime to help PAOK make a comeback but they couldn’t capitalize on any of their chances. They dominated the second half and had plenty of the ball but still didn’t score. PAOK currently sit in the second position with three points while Chelsea are the first with 9 points. PAOK’s next match will be against Panathinaikos on 29/10.
