Al Ahly provide injury updates on Mohareb, Ajayi, Naguib
The Reds were drawn against Al Wasl, with the first-leg taking place at Borg El-Arab on October 28, before facing each other in Dubai on November 22.
Al Ahly are also preparing for the CAF Champions League first-leg final match which will take place on November 3 against Tunisia’s Esperance at Borg Al Arab stadium.
The team’s medical staff said, in comments made to the club’s official website, that Islam Mohareb will be able to return to the squad for the Champions League final, clarifying that the staff decided to exclude Mohareb from the squad facing Al Wasl in the Arab Club Champions Cup to help the player recover from the injury he sustained during Al Ahly’s semi-final victory over Algeria’s ES Setif.
As for Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi, who was sidelined after suffering from a rupture in his medial collateral ligament during the fourth round of the Champions League group stage, the medical team confirmed that he will return to training sessions after three weeks, assuring that the player’s recovery progress is going well.
The medical staff also spoke about defender Mohamed Naguib saying that he will be gradually returning to training sessions with his teammates until he fully recovers and ready to return to the pitch.
