Al Ahly provide update on El-Shennawy’s injury before CL final
Al Ahly medical staff said that goalie Mohamed El-Shennawy suffered from a bruise in his hip’s joint during his side’s draw with Emirati side Al Wasl in the round of 16 of the Arab Club Champions Cup.
El-Shennawy was injured a few minutes before the end of the first half during Al Wasl clash and was replaced by Sherif Ekramy.
The medical team’s doctor Khaled Mahmoud told the club’s official website that they decided to take the goalkeeper out during Al Wasl game so that his injury would not develop. Mahmoud and his staff dealt with the injury right away to have the keeper ready for the CAF Champions League final game against Tunisia’s Esperance.
The Red Devils will be aiming to snatch their ninth Champions League title when they meet Esperance on November 3 for the first-leg game at Borg Al-Arab stadium before heading to Tunisia for the second-leg.
