Liverpool midfielder Wijnaldum challenges Salah
After Mohamed Salah scored once and assisted twice during Liverpool’s victory over Cardiff City, teammate Georginio Wijnaldum expressed his happiness with the Egyptian’s progress but also challenged him to carry on such performances and prove that he is back to his stunning form.
Liverpool are in good shape now after winning eight of their ten opening Premier League games this season and drew the other two.
“He has to continue to do that in a lot of games, not only the four games. But he is on a good way and I hope he keeps it like that,” Wijnaldum said.
The Dutchman highlighted the assist made by Salah to Swiss International Xherdan Shaqiri assuring that it was pivotal for the team as Cardiff City were close to scoring an equalizer.
Wijnaldum is happy about the presence of Shaqiri with the team this season and that he gave Liverpool a little bit more arrogance.
“He helped us to calm down the game again because they were pressing, they had a feeling that they could score the second goal and he took that away.
“I didn’t get the feeling that we were scared or something. But the decisions that we made and the balls that we lost, they had a few set-pieces that gave them confidence, their fans (got) behind them and our fans were a little bit (worried) – then you get the atmosphere.”
