Former Egypt national team coach said that he was surprised by recent claims made by ’s former coach  regarding Egypt and Algeria clash in 2010.

Eight years after Egypt dominated Algeria in Angola after they went on to win their 7th Africa Cup of Nations title and their third on the trot, then manager Rabah Saâdane has claimed that Algeria ‘gifted’ the match to Egypt after he was told to do so by those in power in Algeria.

“I was surprised by such comments,” Shehata, who led Egypt to three consecutive African Cup of Nation between 2006 and 2010, told LTC TV channel. “We secured a big win scoring four goals and performed very well. If we planned the victory beforehand we would have only scored one goal.

“I don’t know why Rabeh Saadane is making such claims after eight years. Such claims are neither realistic nor true at all. These statements affect Algeria and not Egypt.”
