Egypt’s Olympic Bronze medalist was crowned champion of the men’s 81kg category at the World Championship in Turkmenistan, setting a new world record.

Mohamed Ihab, who recently won two gold medals at the men’s 77kg category of the 2018 Mediterranean Games, was able to lift 173kg in the snatch with 3kg more than the previous world record.

Olympic champion Lu Xiaojun of China won the competition’s gold medal while Ihab, who also won bronze in the clean and jerk with 200kg, won silver in total after collecting a total of 373kg, 1kg less than Xiaojun.
