have reached the Beach Soccer Intercontintal Cup semi finals in Dubai with a dramatic late comeback 7-6 win over to finish as group runners up behind Brazil.

Going into the tournament it appeared to be a tough task to progress as Egypt were drawn with the historic heavyweights of the sport, Brazil, as well as a technically adept Spain and the hosts UAE. However, they went into the final game in a strong position after beating UAE 3-1 before losing 5-10 to Brazil.

The final game against Spain was swinging in each side’s favour although Spain appeared to be slightly more in control having gone into half time with a 4-3 lead.

However, Sasa was refusing to take the result sitting down and with three minutes left and Egypt 6-4 down, he inspired a dramatic late comeback in which Egypt scored three goals in the dying moments to win 7-6.

The result means that Egypt go into the semi finals where they will face Iran who finished above Russia in the other group. Should Egypt win, they will face either Russia or their group stage opponents Brazil in the final.

Egypt’s next game is against Iran on Friday 9th of November at 8:45pm Egyptian time.
