Al Ain boss speaks about Hussein El-Shahat’s future with the team

Al Ain Hussein El-Shahat

Al Ain head coach Zoran Mamic discussed the future of Egyptian international after the player was linked with different clubs ahead of the January winter transfer window.

Recently, reports claimed that Hussein El-Shahat is under the radar of Al Ahly and unnamed Saudi Arabian sides interested in acquiring the services of the 26-year-old player.

El-Shahat has previously admitted his desire to join Al Ahly, revealing that playing for the Red Devils will always remain his dream, and the club came close to signing him several times before.

“Hussein El-Shahat is a key player in Al Ain’s squad because he can do the roles assigned to him whether in defending or attacking in an excellent manner, in addition to having a fighter’s spirit, speed and high technical potential,” the Croatian manager said in a press conference before his side’s match against Al-Fujairah.

El-Shahat has been with Al Ain since January 2018, joining them from Misr El-Makkasa. He made eight appearances this season with his club scoring three goals and producing four assists.

“El-Shahat is a professional and committed player who we cannot easily compensate. I told the board about my desire to have him continue playing for our team, especially after I received a few calls from managers in Saudi Arabia inquiring about him and his situation with Al Ain.

“He enjoys high individual potential, team spirit, professionalism and tactical commitment, as well as the ability to play in more than one position, according to the needs of the team and the vision of the coach. I believe that El-Shahat is one of the best foreign players in the UAE and the region now.”
