Pharaohs Abroad Roundup: How have Egyptians abroad fared this week?

KingFut rounds up the action this week to keep you up to date with Egyptian players overseas.

Abdallah El-Said, Mohamed Abdelshafy– Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia)

November 9 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Abdel-Shafy and Abdallah Al-Said both featured in Al Ahli Jeddah’s 2-0 loss against Al Qadisiya in the ninth fixture of the Saudi Pro League. Haroune Camara’s brace secured the full three points for visitors. After the loss, Al Ahli occupy the third league spot with 10 points ahead of their clash Al Ittihad on the 25th of November.

Karim Hafez – Istanbul Basaksehir (Turkey)

November 10 – Turkish Super League – Karim Hafez remained on bench in Istanbul Basaksehir’s 2-1 win against Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig. Manuel da Costa opened the scoring for Basaksehir in the 52nd minute, before Riad Bajic doubled the score for the visitors. Jakub Brabec pulled one back for Rizespor in the 79th minute, but the hosts side managed to secure the win. Following the victory, Hafez’s side remain on top of the league table with 27 points ahead of their clash against Goztepe on November 27.

Ahmed Elmohamady – Aston Villa (England)

November 10 – English Championship – Ahmed Elmohamady came on as a second-half substitute in Aston Villa’s impressive 3-0 victory against Derby County in the 17th fixture of the Championship. The away win takes the Villains to the 11th spot with 24 points before facing Birmingham City on the 25th of November.

Ramadan Sobhi– Huddersfield Town (England)

November 10 – Premier League Ramadan Sobhi was excluded from the squad as Huddersfield Town drew 1-1 against West Ham United in the 12th fixture of the Premier League. Alex Pritchard took an early lead for the Terriers in the sixth minute. In the 74th minute, Felipe Anderson leveled things up for the Hammers. Following the draw, Huddersfield sit 19th with seven points ahead of their encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Sam Morsy– Wigan Atheltic (England)

November 10 – Championship – Sam Morsy missed his side’s 2-0 defeat against Middlesbrough Saturday. Jordan Hugill’s brace secured the full three points for the hosts and made the Latics occupy the 16th spot with 20 points before their next encounter against Reading on November 24.

Bassem Morsy– AE Larissa (Greece)

November 10 –  Greek Super League – AE Larissa defeated PAS Giannina 2-0 in Bassem Morsy’s absence. Nikolaos Golias opened the scoring in the 50th minute and Milos Deletic extended the lead 26 minutes later. After the win, Larissa sit tenth with 11 points and will face Asteras Tripolis on the 24th of November.

Ahmed Hegazi – West Brom (England)

November 10 – Championship – Ahmed Hegazi featured as West Bromwich Albion defeated Leeds United 4-1 in the 17th Championship fixture. The win takes the Baggies to the fifth spot with 28 points before facing Ipswich Town next gameweek.

Amr Marei – Étoile du Sahel (Tunisia)

November 11– Tunisian Ligue 1 – A first-half goal by Chermiti was the only thing that separated Etoile du Sahel and Metlaoui. The veteran striker broke the deadlock not long before half-time, leaving the onus on the defence to hold out for a clean sheet which they achieved. The result puts Etoile third in the Tunisian league and four points behind leaders Sfaxien, with their next game against second-place Bizertin on Friday 23rd of November.

Mohamed Awad – Al Wehda (Saudi Arabia)

November 11 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Awad’s Al Wehda conceded three goals in the first half, during their 3-0 defeat against Al Hilal in the ninth fixture of the Saudi Pro League. Following the loss, Al Wehda currently sit fifth with 15 points and are set to face Al Batin on November 22.

Amr Warda– PAOK FC (Greece)

November 11 –  Greek Super League – Amr Warda was excluded from the squad as PAOK maintained their perfect league start when they defeated Panetolikos 2-1 in the tenth fixture of the Greek Super League. The win cements PAOK position at the top of the league table with 26 points before facing Ergotelis on the 14th of November in the Greek Cup.

Mohamed Elneny – Arsenal (England)

November 11 – Premier League Arsenal draw 1-1 with Wolves in the English Premier League as Elneny was left out due to an injury. Wolves scored an early goal through Ivan Cavaleiro after a great team move and in the closing minutes Mkhitaryan scored from a cross after the whole defense failed to clear the ball. Arsenal’s next match will be against Bournemouth away from home in the Premier League on November 25.

Hussein El-Sayed – Al Ettifaq (Saudi Arabia)

November 11 – Saudi Pro League – Al Nassr defeated Al Ettifaq away from home despite a late comeback attempt. The big names were the difference as Brazil international Giuliano broke the deadlock before Amrabat doubled the lead in the second half. Al Yami’s late goal was not enough as Al Nassr held on to a 2-1 victory. Al Ettifaq are now in 6th place and their next game is away at Al Taawoun next Friday.

Ahmed Hassan Kouka– Olympiacos (Greece)

November 11 –  Greek Super League – Ahmed Hassan ‘Kouka’ featured in Olympiacos’ 1-1 draw against Panathinaikos in the tenth fixture of the Greek Super League. Ergys Kase opened the scoring for the visitors in the 61st minute, however, Pape Abou Cisse leveled things up for Olympiacos in the dying moments of the game. Following the draw, the Red and Whites occupy the third spot with 20 points before facing Atromitos on the 25th of November.

Hussien El-Shahat– Al Ain (UAE)

November 12 –  UAE Pro League – With the absence of Hussein El-Shahat, Al Ain have beaten Al Fujairah 3-1 in the Etisalat Cup. Brazilian winger Caio Fernandes opened the scoring from the penalty spot, before Jamal Ibrahim doubled his side’s lead. Caio then completed his brace and scored his side’s third and final goal of the game in the 77th minute, and in the dying minutes of the game Ahmed Murad scored Al Fujairah’s only goal. Following this result Al Ain are currently second on the Etisalat Cup Group B table with nine points. Their next game will be against Emirates FC in the Etisalat Cup on November 18.

Mahmoud Shikabala– Apollon Smyrni (Greece)

November 12 –  Greek Super League – Egypt international Mahmoud ‘Shikabala’ played the full 90 minutes as Apollon Smyrni lost 2-1 against Aris Thessaloniki FC in the Greek Superleague. Just one minute into the game Argentine midfielder Mateo Garcia scored Aris’ first goal and just before the half-time whistle, Triadis scored Apollon’s equalizer. Then 25 minutes into the second-half Bruno Gama scored the winner for Aris. Following this result Apollon are currently bottom of the league table with two points, they will face Greek giants Panathinaikos on November 24 in their next game.
