OFFICIAL: Egypt friendly against UAE canceled
Egypt national team will not play the scheduled friendly against United Arab Emirates which was supposed to take place on the 20th of November as a celebration for the UAE’s national day that’s in accordance with the celebrations for country founder H.H. Zayed Bin Sultan.
The Pharaohs were set to meet the UAE after hosting Tunisia in Alexandria on the 16th of November for the fifth round of the AFCON qualifiers, while the Emirati side are entering the final phase of their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup which will take place in January 2019.
Both teams already announced their squads for the friendly encounter, however, the Egyptian Football Association ‘EFA’ announced that they requested to postpone the game to March
The EFA said that due to Al Ahly’s match in Dubai on the 22nd of November against Al Wasl for the return leg of the round of 16 of the Arab Club Championship, and the return of a number of the team’s foreign-based players to their clubs on the 21st of November, it will be hard to play the match on the previously agreed on date.
