Huddersfield winger Ramadan Sobhi responds to Al Ahly return rumours
Huddersfield Town and Egypt winger Ramadan Sobhi has responded to rumours linking him with a return back to Cairo giants Al Ahly in January.
Following Al Ahly’s CAF Champions League final loss, the Reds’ president El-Khatib has promised the fans that the club will make a number of transfers in January, which linked Sobhi with an Al Ahly return.
The 21-year-old has been struggling for game time with the Terriers, playing just 33 minutes across all competitions since joining them from Stoke City last summer.
Earlier this month, Ramadan’s agent Nader Shawky revealed that the player will not be leaving Huddersfield Town next January and Ramadan confirmed the news, but didn’t close the door on an Al Ahly return.
“No one has spoken to me from Al Ahly, but I am ready to help the team anytime. I am always there,” Sobhi told ONSport.
“However I have a contract with Huddersfield, and I want to do something with them.”
Asked if he could rejoin Al Ahly on loan, Sobhi answered: “Huddersfield want to keep hold of me, I do not think they want to loan me out, they have just signed me a few months ago.”
Egypt international Ramadan Sobhi is a product of Al Ahly youth sector and was a key player of them between 2014 and 2016, before joining Stoke City for €5 million.
