Aguirre: All players should perform like Salah
Egypt coach Javier Aguirre has heaped praise on the Pharaohs hero Mohamed Salah after scoring a late winning goal against Tunisia in the game that took place in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Salah’s goal helped Egypt beat Tunisia in a thrilling 3-2 result in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers in Borg El Arab stadium in Alexandria to go top of the group with the Carthage Eagles.
“We started the game in a good way but we conceded a goal. I told the players that we just have to concentrate and we will win at half time,” Aguirre said in post-match press conference.
“We inserted four new players in the team in the last period. We will play in a better shape in the coming period and I hope to see more than one Mohamed Salah soon. Salah is fantastic and I hope that everyone performs the same way he does.”
“In March we will face Niger then we will play a friendly against a team that is yet to be decided. We conceded three goals and scored 15 in four games which proves the strength of Egypt. We play with a different style, with open lines. It is easy to play in a defensive way but I don’t like that.”
“I would not like to comment on accusations of doing an offensive gesture after the second goal. During the 30 years I was active in I always faced such accusations and every time I turned my back.”
