Egypt handball star ‘Katonga’ helped his side Besiktas team secure a tough 23-22 win over Macedonian side HC Metalurg in the eighth round of the VELUX EHF Champions League.

After four consecutive defeats during the tournament, Hendawy and his teammates were able to beat HC Metalurg and reach their third win in eight rounds.

Besiktas are temporarily in fourth place with six points behind Tatran Presov in third place and Sporting Clube de Portugal in second place, while Bjerringbro-Silkeborg are on top of Group C with a game in hand for all top three clubs.

Former Al Ahly and Zamalek goalie Karim Hendawy presented stunning performances as he was able to achieve a 37 save percentage after blocking five penalties.

Regardless of the win, Besiktas can’t progress to the tournament’s round of 16.
