have officially qualified for the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon following Comoros 2-1 win over Malawi on Saturday.

The Atlas Lions were drawn in group B alongside 2019 AFCON hosts Cameroon, Malawi, and Comoros, with only one team qualifying for the final competition due to Cameroon’s automatic qualification.

Morocco managed to beat Cameroon at home on Friday, thanks to Hakim Ziyech’s brace, and had to wait for Malawi to drop points against Comoros to secure their qualification.

They got what they wanted as goals from Ben Nabouhane and Chamed earned Comoros a 2-1 win over Malawi, with Phiri scoring the visitors’ only goal of the game.

That was Comoros’ first win in the qualifiers and moved them up to third place with five points, one more than fourth-placed Malwai, while Morocco and Cameroon sit first and second with 10 and eight points respectively.

This will become Morocco’s 17 participation in the AFCON tournaments, with their best result coming in 1976 when they won the trophy.

The final round of the qualifiers will take place in March, and will see Malawi host Morocco, while Cameroon will face Comoros.
