Algeria and Ivory Coast officially qualify for the 2019 African Cup of Nations

Les Verts managed to qualify to the African Cup of Nations for the 18th time in their history after defeating Togo 4-1. Algeria managed to top group D, which also includes Benin and Gambia, with 10 points from three wins, one draw and one loss.

Algeria managed to take an early three-goal advantage through Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez in the 14th and 3oth minutes and Youcef Attal in the 28th minute. Togo’s Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba managed to pull one back for the hosts in the 55th minute before Baghdad Bounedjah completed the scoring during stoppage-time.

Similarly, Ivory Coast managed to become the 12th team to qualify to the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon after drawing 1-1 with already qualified Guinea.

The 2015 African Champions  qualified in the second place of the group with 8 points behind Guinea and ahead of the Central African Republic and Rwanda.

Guinea took the lead in the 11th minute through Mohammed Yattara, before Nice’s Jean Serri tied the game 10 minutes later, sending the Elephants to 2019 AFCON.
