The Red Devils’ next mission to is to overcome Emirati side Al Wasl in the round of 16 of the Arab Club Championship, which will not be an easy encounter as the Cairo giants are looking for a victory in order to advance to the quarter-finals after they drew 2-2 in Egypt, thanks to Marwan Mohsen’s last minute equaliser.
“The next period needs a lot of concentration from our side and I’m sure that our fans will continue to support us to win more championships, and I will do my best to make them happy,” the French coach said in press comments on Tuesday.
Al Ahly will have to face Al Wasl with no right-backs as trio Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Hany, and Bassem Ali are all injured. Ali Maaloul, Mohamed Naguib, Ahmed Hamdi, Mido Gaber, and Momen Zakaria will also miss the game.
Football director Mohamed Youssef assured that the game will be tough since the team is going through a transitional period.
“We respect Al Wasl and their players, but we’re always aiming to win,” Youssef added.
