Algerian referee Mehdi Abid suspended by CAF

Algerian referee has been suspended by the Confederation of African (CAF) as he faces corruption charges regarding the and game.

Abid refereed the CAF Champions League first-leg final between Al Ahly and Esperance, when the Red Devils won 3-1 at home and lost the second-leg 3-0.

However the game saw several dubious calls that favored the home side including two penalties.

CAF Disciplinary Board have pointed out that there is a corruption suspicion that led Abid to direct the game in such a poor manner. The Algerian referee will be suspended from officiating any game until he responds to these allegations, while simultaneously having the option to appeal the decision.
