Egypt manager Aguirre tips Ramadan to leave Huddersfield
Aguirre has a 100% win record with the Pharaohs, winning every game since taking charge of the team as well as guiding them to the 2019 AFCON.
The Mexican boss is known for constantly calling-up young players for his squad, and most recently handed international debuts to Mohamed Mahmoud and Taher Mohamed.
“Age is not an important factor when I choose the players, but I am more inclined to the younger ones,” Aguirre told ONSport.
“Performance is more important to me, there are experienced players who play like youngsters and vice versa.
“Look at Mohamed Mahmoud, anyone who sees him play thinks he is 28 years old. He is a great player and very strong.
Aguirre then went to talk about Huddersfield winger Ramadan Sobhi, who was not named in Egypt’s squad for the Tunisia game.
Sobhi is yet to play a game for Egypt since the Mexican’s appointment and instead featured for the U-23 national team for their two friendlies against Tunisia.
“Shawky Gharib wanted Ramadan to join the Olympic national team in the last two camps to train and play. In the third camp, I agreed because he was not in my plans,” Aguirre said.
“My advice to Ramadan Sobhi is to try to find a club that gives him the chance to play continuously,” he concluded.
The 21-year-old has been struggling for game time with the Terriers, playing just 33 minutes across all competitions since joining them from Stoke City last summer.
He has also been linked with a move to Cairo giants Al Ahly next January, before the player confirmed his will stay with the Premier League side.
