Javier Aguirre reveals what Cuper told him after taking charge of Egypt
Egypt manager Javier Aguirre has revealed what former boss Hector Cuper told him after taking charge of the Pharaohs.
Aguirre replaced Cuper last August and has since won every game he took charge of, as well as guiding the Pharaohs to the 2019 AFCON.
And after his appointment, he talked with Hector Cuper and revealed what the former Egypt boss told him: “What Cuper told me when I called him after I took over the job was that he had no tactical problems.
“Cuper told me that the Egyptian player likes to train and that he apply the tactics literally,” he added.
Hector Cuper, who is currently in charge of Uzbekistan, led Egypt in 38 games, reaching the 2017 AFCON final and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Aguirre was then asked which player has surprised him the most, replying: “To be honest, Baher Elmohamady.
“I watched him play against Al Ahly in the league and I found out he does everything I ask a player to do and he is a very fierce and strong player without the ball,” he added.
Baher Elmohamady was handed his international debut by Aguirre and has since made four appearances for Egypt, scoring a crucial goal in the hard-fought victory over Tunisia.
