Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Awad reveals Al Ahly negotiations
Egypt international and Al Wehda goalie Mohamed Awad revealed negotiations with Al Ahly as the Cairo giants contacted him to see if he is interested in joining the team.
After promising displays with Ismaily, Mohamed Awad was linked to Al Wehda before the World Cup started. He then agreed to a one-year loan deal to join the club from Ismaily in July 2018.
“It’s true, Al Ahly started negotiations with me about a week or ten days ago,” Mohamed Awad said in radio comments.
“Someone from the contracting committee got in touch with my friend to see what do I think about joining Al Ahly after the end of my loan,” he added.
He pointed that Al Wehda officials want him to stay with the club after his good performances this season.
“Playing in the Saudi Professional League was a good choice, it is an experience that I am learning a lot from. I hope I can stay here as much as I can.
“Here it is only about football. No place for conflicts and issues like in Egypt.”
As for rumours about his discontent for not starting for the Egyptian national team, Awad denied that he is displeased with such decisions made by the coaching staff.
“Such rumours affect me negatively. I am only focused on performing well with my team. As long as I am doing that, I will get my chance,” the 26-year-old explained.
