Al Ain President supports Hussein El-Shahat
Al Ain President Ghanem El-Hagry backed Egypt international Hussein El-Shahat after the player received criticism for not retaining his form.
This season, Hussein El-Shahat made nine appearances with his club in the UAE Gulf League scoring four goals and producing four assists. However, it seems that fans were expecting more from the Egyptian midfielder after his performances last season in which he scored 19 times and produced 18 assists in 34 matches.
El-Shahat commented on this before as he told UAE media outlet, Emarat Al Youm, that he is disappointed to be evaluated according to the number of goals he scored instead of his contributions to the team.
“We’re sure he will be back to his form. He was and still is an important part of the team,” the chairman said on his Twitter account.
“We will not leave him alone and we’ll continue to support him until he’s back on track.”
El-Hagry also hinted at recent reports claiming the player’s transfer to Al Ahly by saying: “The media is excused and the respected person always has a polite response. 2021 is still far away.”
