Agent: Huddersfield coach wants Ramadan Sobhi to stay
Shawky spoke about Ramadan Sobhi’s future with the team especially as he has been struggling for game time with the Terriers, playing just 33 minutes across all competitions since joining them from Stoke City last summer.
Following Al Ahly’s CAF Champions League final loss, the Reds’ president Mahmoud El-Khatib has promised the fans that the club will make a number of transfers in January, which linked Sobhi with an Al Ahly return.
“Till this moment, Ramadan Sobhi is staying with his team,” Shawky said in radio comments. “Al Ahly did not officially request the services of Sobhi till now.
“He is close to staying with his team in England and he’s looking forward to taking part in more games. What I understand is that Huddersfield coach wants him to stay and doesn’t want to let him go in the middle of the season, that’s what they talked about in a meeting that happened recently.”
Egypt international Ramadan Sobhi is a product of Al Ahly youth sector and was a key player of them between 2014 and 2016, before joining Stoke City for €5 million.
“Ramadan is the one who asked to join the Olympic national team to return to his form after recovering from an injury. He is doing well and never had a problem during the three years he spent in England.
“What he is missing in on the technical side as he needs to be playing regularly, but some people in Egypt want to always put him under pressure,” Shawky concluded.
Huddersfield are currently in the 15th position in the English Premier league table after claiming ten points in 13 games.
