Lauren: Mohamed Salah is perfect example to youngsters
While Salah is one of the best African players of recent years on the pitch, he is also known for his philanthropic nature off of it.
This has come to the attention of Cameroon legend Lauren, who has praised him in a recent interview with BBC Sport.
The 41-year-old said, “Sometimes there’s the wrong image of footballers – namely, that footballers are just all about ‘bling’ – but it’s not always like that.”
“Mo Salah is a normal guy and a perfect example to youngsters. He’s also doing a lot for African football because when kids see that Salah can make it [in Europe], they think they can do it as well.
“Once you are professional, you aren’t conscious of this dimension for youngsters back in Africa but it’s a big influence – more than he thinks,” he added.
Salah’s next game to prove his worth will be in the Merseyside Derby against Everton on Sunday at 6:15 PM Egyptian time – the exact same fixture in which he sealed the Puskas Award for 2018.
