Amr Warda analyses PAOK’s defeat to Chelsea, his future
PAOK was dealt another blow to their chances of advancing to the Europa League round of 32 after suffering a thumping 4-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Giroud brace, Hudson-Odoi and Morata’s strikes assured the Blues will qualify as group winners.
Warda watched the first half from the bench and was brought on at half-time but his substitution didn’t change much for the visitors.
“We were facing one of the best teams in the world at their home ground. They had just lost 3-1 against Tottenham and wanted to compensate for that,” Warda told beIN Sports.
“In the first five minutes, we had a player sent off. We tried to fight back but Chelsea scored twice, we will try to improve in the next period and make the fans happy.
“Their experience made the difference, we hope this serves us as a lesson to do better. We want to continue winning in the league and obtain the title.”
The Egypt international was recently linked to a return to home club Al Ahly in the upcoming January transfer window.
“My contract with PAOK is running and I am continuing here. The club told me in case I receive good offers they won’t stand in my way and will allow me to leave.”
