Al Ahly sign Egypt international Mohamed Mahmoud from Wadi Degla
Al Ahly have completed the signing of Wadi Degla midfielder Mohamed Mahmoud on a four-and-a-half year deal, the Reds have announced on Saturday.
The 20-year-old becomes Al Ahly’s first winter arrival after club president Mahmoud El-Khatib promised fans several new signings in the January transfer window.
The news comes just a couple of days after his agent has revealed that Mahmoud has offers from Netherlands and Germany.
Mahmoud is a central midfielder, who combines excellent passing abilities, vision, skills, and long-range shooting and has already some international caps under his belt.
He has won two caps for the Pharaohs, having been handed his international debut by Javier Aguirre.
Still just 20, the Wadi Degla midfielder has impressed since his emergence from the youth ranks into the first team and is considered as the best passer of the ball at the club.
He has featured 25 times for Wadi Degla since the start of last season, scoring two goals, with both strikes coming this season against El-Gaish and Misr El-Makkasa.
Mohamed Mahmoud has featured for the Pharaohs recently, playing against Swaziland and Tunisia in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers and has been praised by Egypt boss Javier Aguirre.
The Red Devils are expected to sign more players in the upcoming period as they seek to turn their fortunes after losing the CAF Champions League final and getting knocked out from Zayed Club Champions Cup.
