Amr Marei joins Pyramids FC from Étoile du Sahel
The forward will arrive at Pyramids in January, becoming their first winter signing, after the club announced that they have agreed on deals with five new players.
Marei started his football career at Wadi Degla, before moving to El-Dakhelya in 2015. He spent only one season at the latter, where his impressive performances attracted the interest of ENPPI.
A number of fine performances in the Egyptian Premier League with ENPPI prompted Tunisian giants Etoile du Sahel to make a move for him, signing the forward in July 2017.
It didn’t quite work out for Marei in Tunisia, as he managed to score only 10 goals and assisted seven in 43 games with Etoile and failed to win any silverware with them.
Marei had also been linked with a move to Zamalek, but he opted to join Pyramids, where he will have a fight on his hands to get a starting spot, especially with the presence of Naser Mansi and Dani Schahin.
The 26-year-old has won two caps for Egypt, making his international debut under Bob Bradley in 2013 against Qatar, with his last game coming against Ghana in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Pyramids are currently second in the Egyptian Premier League with 26 points, six behind leaders Zamalek.
