Van Dijk defends Mohamed Salah, plays down ‘quiet spell’ suggestion
Salah has featured in a total of 20 games for Liverpool in all competitions so far this season. He scored nine goals and assisted other four for his teammates.
That said, the 26-year-old winger’s start to the season is seen by many as a sloppy one and not up to expectations compared to his superb one last season where he finished as the Premier League top scorer and clinched the Premier League Player of the Year accolade.
Salah was not as inspirational as desired for Liverpool in their last two games against PSG and Everton, but Van Dijk doesn’t see this to cause any sort of alibi.
“I don’t think it’s a quiet spell. He’s been doing very well. We know we have quality players who can make a difference and we saw that against Everton,” Van Dijk said.
“We need everyone because it is a very tough period coming up.”
