Ahmed Magdy will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL
El Gouna midfielder Ahmed Magdy has been ruled out for the rest of the season as he has picked up a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Magdy, formerly of Zamalek, started his club’s last game against Al Ahly however he was forced off as they were 1-0 up before the Red Devils made a comeback to win 2-1 and deny El Gouna a famous win.
He has made 14 appearances in the Egyptian Premier League this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists. He also scored in El Gouna’s 4-1 Egypt Cup defeat to Wadi Degla.
Anterior cruciate ligament injuries, more commonly referred to as ACLs, are notorious in sports as they usually have long term damaging effects and are extremely hard to recover from. They refer to one of the ligaments that can be found within the knee.
This is a particular blow for El Gouna as Magdy is not their first player to suffer an ACL injury this season, with young star Mahmoud Shabrawy was previously sidelined in similar circumstances.
El Gouna’s next confirmed game is at home against Wadi Degla on December 26th at 5PM Egyptian time.
