Ismaily have put veteran goalkeeper on the transfer list ahead of the upcoming window period in January.

The 45-year-old went AWOL and missed Ismaily’s trip to Burundi to face Le Messager Ngozi in the preliminary round of the 2019 CAF Champions League.

This resulted in the club’s board referring him to an investigation, and yet he still failed to turn up, which forced them to place him on the transfer list.

“We have decided to fine Essam El-Hadary EGP 500,000 for missing the Burundi trip. He escaped from the battle and he will be fined according to the rules,” Ismaily’s counsellor Nehad Hagag told ONSport.

“He has been stripped of the captaincy and we have officially informed the EFA about his absence. Ismaily have also placed Essam El-Hadary on the January transfer list,” he added.

The goalkeeper is one of Ismaily’s captains alongside former Egypt international Hosny Abd Rabo and Mahmoud Metwally.

El-Hadary rejoined Ismaily for a third stint last summer following the departure of Mohamed Awad to Saudi side Al Wehda.

He has made 13 league appearances for Ismaily this season, keeping four clean sheets as his side currently bottom of the Egyptian Premier League.

The legendary goalkeeper has also helped Ismaily reach the Egypt Cup quarter-finals as well as the round of 16 of the Arab Club Championship.

The Egypt international keeper became the oldest ever player to feature at a World Cup when he was included in the Pharaohs’ starting line up that lost 2-1 to Saudi Arabia last week.
