Mohamed Salah not on Lionel Messi level, says Dimitar Berbatov
Former Man Utd striker Dimitar Berbatov believes that Mohamed Salah is yet to reach Lionel Messi’s level despite his hat-trick on Saturday.
Salah led Liverpool to thrash Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, scoring a hat-trick as the Reds extended their winning run in the league to five games.
He has currently 42 league goals for Liverpool since the beginning of last season, only three goals behind Lionel Messi who has netted 45 times for Barcelona in La Liga.
However, Bulgarian legend Dimitar Berbatov says while Mohamed Salah has some of the Argentian’s qualities, he is not on his level.
“He’s not there with Messi and Ronaldo. Nobody is yet,” Berbatov told Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday show.
“Mo Salah has some of Messi’s qualities. Maybe not at the same level [though],” he added.
The Egyptian became the first Liverpool player to score an away hat-trick in the Premier League since Luis Suarez against Cardiff in March 2014.
Following his hattrick, Salah moved top of the Premier League scoring charts with ten goals, level with Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Liverpool’s next encounter will be a must-win game against Napoli in UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, December 11.
