Mido on Steve Bruce-Al Ahly links: Great manager, could be a gamble
Rumours have circulated in the last few hours about the potentiality of Bruce being appointed by Al Ahly as head coach as the Red Devils’ hunt for a new foreign manager continue.
The 57-year-old’s latest coaching experience was with Ahmed Elmohamady’s Aston Villa where he was at the helm of the team since October 2016, but he left his job in October 2018 and now he is a free agent.
“Steve Bruce is a great manager and has got great coaching abilities but I think taking over Al Ahly now is a big gamble,” Mido told NRJ radio station.
If Bruce takes charge of the Reds, he will be the second manager with Premier League experience to coach Al Ahly after former Tottenham and Fulham boss Martin Jol.
Speaking of the Dutchman, Mido said: “Martin Jol didn’t fail with Al Ahly and his league triumph is a proof.
“It’s too early to predict the league winner, the second round will see a lot of changes in the standings,” he concluded.
