Tunisia entrust Alain Giresse as national team boss
The Tunisian Football Federation have announced on Thursday they have officially hired French coach Alain Giresse as senior national team manager to succeed Faouzi Benzarti.
Faouzi Benzarti was sacked by the Tunisian Football Federation on October 20 nearly three months after he was appointed and despite sealing qualification to Africa Cup of Nations 2019.
Benzarti was then replaced by Mourad Okbi and Maher Kanzari as interim managers who were at the helm of the team for their qualifier against Egypt, which they lost 3-2 in Alexandria.
“Today a contract has been signed in the Tunisian Football Federation headquarters with new national team coach Alain Giresse, the contract runs between January 1, 2019 and June 30, 2021 and could be extended,” an official statement read.
The FTF disclosed that the former Senegal and Mali manager will be officially presented to media in a press conference on Friday.
