Pharaohs Abroad Roundup: How have Egyptians abroad fared this week?

KingFut rounds up the  action this week to keep you up to date with Egyptian players overseas.

Ramadan Sobhi– Huddersfield Town (England)

December 15 – Premier League Ramadan Sobhi came on in the 60th minute in his team’s 1-0 loss against Newcastle United in the 17th fixture of the English Premier League, thanks to Jose Rondon’s second-half goal that sealed the win for the Magpies. Following the loss, Huddersfield sit 18th with ten points and will face Southampton on Dec.22.

Ahmed Elmohamady – Aston Villa (England)

December 15 – English Championship – Egypt’s captain Ahmed Elmohamady played the full 90 minutes in Aston Villa’s entertaining draw against Stoke City in the 22nd Championship fixture. The draw takes the Villans to the eighth league position with 33 points ahead of their anticipated encounter against league leaders Leeds United on the 23rd of December.

Sam Morsy – Wigan (England)

December 15 – Championship – Sam Morsy featured as Wigan lost 1-0 against Ipswich Town in the 22nd fixture of the Championship. Freddie Sears scored the game’s only goal in the 67th minute to grab an important win for the Tractor Boys. After the loss, Wigan moved to the 16th spot with 25 points and are set to face Birmingham City next week.

Abdallah El-Said, Mohamed Abdelshafy– Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia)

December 15 – Saudi Pro League – Abdallah El-Said played 62 minutes and Mohamed AbdelShafy played the full-game as Al Ahli lost 1-0 to Al Shabab in the Saudi Professional League. Abdulmajeed Al-Sulayhem scored the only goal of the game in the 96th minute to secure the three points for his side. Al Ahli are currently fourth on the league table with 24 points, they will face first-placed Al Hilal in their next game.

Mahmoud Trezeguet – Kasimpasa (Turkey)

December 15 – Turkish Super League – Mahmoud Trezeguet attributed till fulltime in Kasimpasa’s dramatic 3-2 loss against Konyaspor. Konyaspor opened the scoring in the second half, 15 minutes before the final whistle, Kasimpasa were able to equalize and quickly take over the lead, however, a surprise approach from Konyaspor striker turned things level and less than ten minutes later Moryke Fofana claimed the win 3-2. Kasimpasa now stand temporarily second equalizing points with Antalyaspor before their clash with Yeni Malatyaspor. The Istanbul based side has a Cup task on 19th of December with Menemen Belediye in the round of 32.

Karim Hafez – Istanbul Basaksehir (Turkey)

December 15 – Turkish Super League – Karim Hafez remained on the bench as Istanbul Basaksehir drew 1-1 with Galatasaray in the 16th fixture of the Turkish Super Lig. Irfan Kahveci opened the scoring the for Basaksehir in the 18th minute. However, Eren Derdiyok levelled things up around the half-hour mark. Following the draw, Hafez’s side cement their position on top of the league table with 34 points ahead of their Cup clash Adana Demirspor on Dec.18.

Mohamed Elneny – Arsenal (England)

December 16 – Premier League Mohamed Elneny remained on the bench as Arsenal suffered their first defeat in 22 games in all competition, when they lost 3-2 against Southampton in the 17th fixture of the English Premier League. Following the loss, Arsenal sit fifth with 34 points and will face Tottenham on the 19th of December in the EFL Cup.

Ahmed Hassan Kouka– Olympiacos (Greece)

December 16 –  Greek Super League – The Egyptian striker was left-out of the squad due to injury as Olympiacos beat PAS Lima 3-0 in the Greek Super League. Spanish striker Miguel Angel Guerrero opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. Greek midfielder Giannis Fetfatzidis scored his side’s second goal just one minute into the second-half. Norwegian full-back Omar Elabdellaoui scored the third and final goal of the game in the 51st minute. Olympiacos are currently second on the Greek League table with 30 points, five behind ’s PAOK FC. They will face Aris Avatou in their next game on December 19 in the Greek Cup.

Mahmoud Shikabala– Apollon Smyrni (Greece)

December 16 –  Greek Super League – Shikabala assisted in Apollon Smyrni’s first win of the season against Xanthi. After a goalless first half, Shikabala came off the bench and assisted Thomas Jaguaribe for the only goal of the game. Apollon remain bottom but have a monkey off their back with their first win of the season, with their next game against Trikala in the Greek Cup

Amr Warda– PAOK FC (Greece)

December 17 –  Greek Super League –Egypt international Amr Warda played the full 90 minutes as PAOK beat Levadiakos 2-1 in the Greek Super League. Aleksandar Prijovic opened the scoring in the 41st minute. One minute into the second-half Diego Biseswar scored PAOK’s second goal. Levadiakos defender Giorgos Zisopoulos scored his side’s only goal of the game in the 75th minute. Following this result, PAOK are currently on top of the league table with 38 points, eight ahead of their closest rival Olympiacos. They will face Aittitos Spata in their next game in the Greek Cup.

Karim Hafez – Istanbul Basaksehir (Turkey)

December 18 – Turkish Cup – Karim Hafez played the full 90 minutes as Istanbul Basaksehir’s defeated Adana Demirspor 2-0 in the Turkish Cup. Following the win, Hafez’s team qualified to the Cup’s next round with a 3-1 result on aggregate and will face Alanyaspor next week in the Turkish Super Lig.

Ahmed Hassan Kouka– Olympiacos (Greece)

December 19 –  Greek Cup –Egypt international Ahmed Hassan ‘Kouka’ was left out of the squad due to injury as Olympiacos beat Aris Avatou 2-1 in the Greek Cup. 11 minutes into the game Greek winger Marios Vrousani opened the scoring. Five minutes before half-time Androutsos scored Olympiacos’ second goal. In the dying moments of the first-half Sarigiannidis scored Aris Avatou’s only goal. Olympiacos are currently top of their group in the Greek Cup with six points. They will face A.E.L in the Greek League in their next game.

Mahmoud Trezeguet – Kasimpasa (Turkey)

December 19 – Turkish Cup – Mahmoud Trezeguet was excluded from Kasimpasa’s Cup 4-1 victory over Menemen Belediyespor as they qualify for the Round of 16. Mustafa Erboga the brace collector opened the scoring for Trezeguet’s side, Bengali Koita netted from the penalty spot and Samuel Edhok claimed their win at the 70th-minute mark, however, Serhat Bastan scored a consolation goal for his side with five minutes left on the clock. The Istanbul based side who stand sixth the table have a tougher task on Saturday 22nd against Besiktas in the Super Lig.

Mohamed Awad – Al Wehda (Saudi Arabia)

December 19 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Awad played the full 90 minutes as Al Faisaly defeated Al Wehda 3-0 in the 14th fixture of the Saudi Pro League. After the loss, Awad’s side sit sixth with 21 points ahead of their clash against Abdallah El-Said and Mohamed Abdel-Shafy’s Al Ahli next week.

Mohamed Atwa – Al Raed (Saudi Arabia)

December 19 – Saudi Pro League – Mohamed Attwa maintained a clean-sheet as Al Raed defeated Al Hazm 1-0 in the 14th fixture of the Saudi Pro League. Ismael Bangoura scored at the one-hour mark to snatch the full mark for hosts. The win takes Al Raed to the 11th spot with 15 points ahead of their match against Al Taawoun next week.

Mahmoud Shikabala– Apollon Smyrni (Greece)

December 20 –  Greek Super League –Mahmoud ‘Shikabala’s’ Apollon Smyrnis drew with second division side Trikala 1-1 in the Greek Cup. Kapos opened the scoring for Trikala in the 54th minute. Lebanese forward Hilal El Helwe then scored Apollon’s equaliser in the 61st minute. Apollon are currently bottom of their group in the Greek Cup with one point and bottom of the Greek League table with five points. They will face A.E.L in their next game in the league on January 13.

Amr Warda– PAOK FC (Greece)

December 20 –  Greek Cup – Egyptian international Amr Warda played the full 90 minutes as PAOK humiliate PAO Aittitos Spata 6-0 in the Greek Cup. Niko Karelis opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Canas then added the second in the 26th minute. Serbian striker Aleksander Prijovic scored the third 15 minutes into the second half. Niko Karelis then completed his brace in the 75th minute. Prijovic scored his side’s fifth in the 84th minute. The same player completed his hat-trick just one minute later. PAOK are currently on top of their group in the Greek Cup with seven points. They will face Asteras Tripolis in their next game in the league.
