EFA announce Egypt-Nigeria friendly venue
The Nigerian FA have announced the venue of Egypt’s friendly with the Super Eagles, which will take place on March 26.
The Pharaohs will take on Niger away from home in the period between 22-24 March 2019, before travelling to face Nigeria in a friendly on the 26th.
As announced in a statement by the EFA, the international friendly will take place at the Asaba delta state stadium, which has a capacity of 22,000 people.
The last time Egypt faced Nigeria away from home was in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier. The Pharaohs managed to secure a last-gasp draw following a Mohamed Salah strike to go on and beat Nigeria 1-0 in Alexandria and qualify to the AFCON for the first time since 2010.
Nigeria have managed to qualify for the 2019 AFCON after topping their group with 10 points. Hot on their tails are South Africa with nine while Libya hold the third position with 7. The Super Eagles will hope to seal top spot in the final game as they face bottom-placed Seychelles at home.
Despite the last loss against the Pharaohs, Nigeria hold a superior record in their previous meetings with the Egyptians having won seven, drawn five and lost five.
