Zamalek lose 2-0 to AS CotonTchad, qualify for Confederation Cup playoffs
Zamalek have secured their place in the playoffs of the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup following a 7-2 aggregate victory over  of Chad.

The Whites managed to claim a huge 7-0 home win, before suffering a late 2-0 defeat in Chad, which is their only third defeat under Christian Gross.

Zamalek completely dominated the early minutes of the first-half, which saw Hamdi Nagguez forced to leave the pitch due to a hamstring injury.

In the 38th minute, Youssef Obama had a chance to open the scoring for Zamalek, but his shot was saved by the Coton goalkeeper, and five minutes later Emad El-Sayed denied the hosts from scoring.

Kahraba and Kasongo had a couple of chances to score in the second-half, but the most dangerous chance came through Abdallah Gomaa, who went through on goal, but couldn’t convert his shot into the net.

In the dying minutes of the game, the hosts managed to score two goals, the first came through Abanga Youssef and Adada Mehmet, which secured a historic win for the Chadians.

Zamalek will now face one of the losers from the CAF Champions League first round in the play-off round, with the draw taking place on December 28.
