Nigeria’s Ogenyi Onazi to miss rest of Trabzonspor season
Ogenyi Onazi was injured during his side’s victory over Rizespor after 32 minutes in the Super Lig. The player was stretchered off and the club’s chairman later announced the news.
“Unfortunately Onazi suffered a ruptured achilles tendon. His season may well be over,” Trabzonspor President Ahmed Agaoglu told the press.
The news comes as a blow for Nigeria as the player will be racing against time to take part in the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which will start in June.
The 25-year-old has been a key player for his club scoring two goals in 16 games this season and helped his team sustain the second position in the table.
