Al Wehda claim dramatic victory over Al Ahli in Mido’s last game
Marcos Guilherme scored a 100th-minute winner as Al Wehda claimed a memorable victory over Al Ahli Jeddah in the 15th round of the Saudi Professional League.
The former Zamalek and Wadi Degla manager has announced that Al Ahli’s clash is going to be his last game as the club’s manager, before stepping down and continuing his job as a technical advisor.
Mohamed Awad started in goal for Al Wehda, while Abdallah El-Said has made the usual start for Al Ahli behind Omar Al-Somah, while Abdel-Shafy captained the team from left-back.
Al Wehda had a dream start to their game as they took the lead after five minutes through Romulo Otero, who sent a powerful free-kick into Yasser Al Mosailem’s net.
In the third minute of the injury time of the second-half, Al Ahli were awarded a penalty after Al Soma was fouled by Mohamed Awad, the Syrian striker stepped up and managed to bring things level for his side.
However, in the dying moments of the game, Al Wehda secured a very late victory when Marcos Guilherme collected a cross inside the box, before finding the net from the close range.
Al Ahli and Al Wehda are both on 24 points separated by goal difference with an advantage for the Jeddah team.
Al Ahli are playing Ohod, who occupy the bottom of the table, in the next round as they look to end their winless streak, while Al Wehda are hosting Al Fateh.
