Egypt’s schedule in the 2019 World Men’s Handball Championships decided

Confédération Africaine de

Egypt’s fixture list for the 2019 World Men’s Handball Championships has been finalised with the matches against Sweden, Hungary, Qatar, Argentina and Angola now having set times and dates.

The draw means that Egypt have been placed alongside one of the two other African teams in Angola, as well as one of the many Arab teams in Qatar, although the latter are well documented for having several naturalised players from Eastern Europe and the like. Egypt’s entire group will play all of their matches at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.

Egypt will open their campaign against the group favourites, Sweden, who are the Pot 1 team and made it to the quarter finals of last year’s competition before losing to eventual winners France. The match will take place on Friday 11th of January at 9:30PM Danish time.

Qatar will follow on the 13th at 4:30PM local time, before Egypt take on South American champions Argentina the next day at 7:00PM.

On the 16th of January, Egypt face their second European opponents in Hungary at 7:00PM, in what should be a tough game as they are in Pot 2. The group closer will then be against fellow Africans Angola the next day at 4:30PM local time.

In the group itself, the top three teams will progress to the main round while the eliminated teams will go into a playoff system to decide the final rankings.
