Youssef frustrated after Al Ahly draw against Dakhleya

Al Ahly interim boss believes that his side gave Dakhleya valuable gifts that made their opponent’s job easier as the two sides drew 2-2 in the Egyptian Premier League.

Thanks to Ayman Ashraf’s equaliser in the dying moments of the game, Al Ahly were able to secure a point against Dakhleya in the league and now sit sixth with 24 points.

Youssef thinks his players gifted Dakhleya opportunities that helped them score and criticized the match’s referee.

“We were forced to make a couple of substitutions as we took Ahmed Fathi out after he sustained an injury and substituted Ahmed Alaa so we would have more attacking force from Ali Maaloul,” the coach told the press after the game.

“I think Dakhleya were very lucky and if we had some of this luck we would have been able to claim victory,” he added.

As for the referee’s performance, Youssef said that his side couldn’t even play in the last five minutes because Dakhleya players were acting injured and kept wasting time.

“Dakhleya players were falling down during the additional time and the referee did not make up for this wasted time. I don’t want to talk much about the referee.

“Right now, we shouldn’t be gifting opponents such opportunities, it’s hard for us to score and we have to secure clean sheets. We were successful in stopping Dakhleya’s counter-attacks, but we gave them a gift that helped them score an equalizer.”
