’s Cape Verde international winger has left the club for Saudi giants Al Ittihad. The player had previously been in the way of a Galatasaray move for .

After Trezeguet’s stellar season for Kasimpasa in 2017-18, he had turned a lot of heads in the Turkish footballing community including those at Galatasaray who had been extremely interested in signing the Egyptian.

The move did not materialise as Galatasaray had a player already in his position, in the form of Garry Rodrigues. However, the 28 year old has now moved to Al Ittihad Jeddah which may potentially free up a place for Trezeguet.

Galatasaray were also briefly linked to Amr Warda as a potential Rodrigues replacement but the links to Trezeguet were far stronger. It is now expected that the Istanbul giants will once again pursue Trezeguet in either the current or summer transfer window.

Rodrigues will join the same league as his international teammate Djaniny who plies his trade with Al Ahli, although they will have different aims as Ahli will look to qualify for continental competitions while Ittihad’s immediate aim is to avoid relegation, with the club currently in 15th place in a 16 team league.
