Manchester City captain has refused to apologise to Liverpool star for his tough challenge against him, claiming that it was a great one.

The Citizens managed to end Liverpool’s run of 20 league games where they were unbeaten after a 2-1 victory in the game that took place at Etihad Stadium in the 21st round of the English Premier League.

The big clash witnessed a reckless tackle from Kompany to prevent Salah going through on goal which saw him go into referee Anthony Taylor’s booking. The tackle was red card worthy in the eyes of the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, the Belgium international contended that he may have slightly got Salah’s foot in the process but his tackle remains a neat one.

“I thought it was a great challenge, was it not? I got the ball, a little bit of the man but it wasn’t naughty,” Kompany told Sky Sports.

“I didn’t try to injure him. It was that or let him go through on goal.”
