Al Ahly announce signing of Smouha defender Yasser Ibrahim
The 25-year-old becomes Al Ahly sixth winter signing and arrives after a club-record deal for Al Ain winger Hussein El-Shahat was agreed on Sunday.
Ibrahim passed his medical on Monday and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will keep him at the Cairo giants until July 2023.
Yasser Ibrahim started his career at El-Mansoura, before moving to Zamalek in 2013, playing just 19 games in two years, before moving to Smouha in January 2015 , making over 115 appearances for the Alexandria-based side.
He managed to lift the Egypt Cup in 2014 with Zamalek, and helped Smouha reach the Egypt Cup final last year as well as guiding them to the CAF Champions League in 2015.
The defender is yet to be capped at international level, but has been called up by the Egypt U-23 team before, and has won the U-20 AFCON in 2013.
The deal also saw Al Ahly winger Amr Barakat join Smouha on a one-and-a-half-year loan, becoming Smouha’s seventh January arrival after deals for Mohamed Fathi, Eddy Emomo, Ahmed Sobhi, Cheikh Bamba, Bassem Morsi, and Ahmed El-Sheikh.
Barakat has joined Al Ahly in January 2017 from Lierse SK, but managed to make only one league appearance, and spent last season on loan at Saudi side Al Shabab.
Al Ahly and Smouha will face each other next Tuesday, however, neither Ibrahim or Barakat will be able to feature in that game.
