Official: Egypt to host Africa Cup of Nations 2019

It has been decided that will host the after Confederation of African Football () announced it’s bid has prevailed over South Africa’s one.

CAF had officially stripped Cameroon off their hosting rights for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be played in June 2019, back in November after they failed to fulfill the necessary organizational requirements.

CAF released a statement saying that the Executive Committee will summon on Tuesday instead of Wednesday to decide on the AFCON 2019 hosts, with an announcement set to follow. The candidates were Egypt and South Africa, after Morocco had surprisingly withdrawn their bid.

The Egyptian Football Association announced on Tuesday that Egypt’s bid has won against South Africa’s one, followed by CAF president Ahmad Ahmad’s announcement after the conclusion of the Executive Committee’s meeting.

The Pharaohs’ gathered a total of 16 votes, while South Africa got a single vote.
