Mohamed Salah rejects comparisons with Eto'o, Toure

has rejected any comparisons with Samuel Eto’o and , hours before the announcement of the CAF Player of the Year winner.

Salah made the final three-man shortlist for this year’s African Player of the Year award alongside Senegal’s  and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon.

The Egyptian is favourite to be named CAF Player of the Year for the second year in a row, a feat which has been achieved by the likes of Yaya Toure and Samuel Eto’o.

However, Salah refused to be drawn into comparisons with these two African legends, saying: “Eto’o and Toure are two great players, but I only speak about myself.

“I want to win the award again, and from tomorrow my target will be to win it for a third consecutive year. I don’t know who will win the award, we all have the same chances,” he added.

Salah also gave his opinion on Egypt winning the hosting rights of the 2019 AFCON, “Hosting the Nations Cup is a great thing.

“We are seeking to win the title because we have not won it for long,” he concluded.
