VIDEO: Mido’s Al Wehda snatch late victory against Al Fateh
Brazil’s Guilherme scored in the last minute as Ahmed Hossam Mido’s Al Wehda beat Al Fateh 1-0 in the Saudi Professional league.
Al Wehda went into the game trying to extend their winning run after being victorious in their last two games against Al Ahli and Al Nairyah.
The game turned out to be a very one-sided and that was clear from the beginning as Al Wehda dominated both possession and chances.
Despite having six attempts on goal in the first half, Al Wehda’s most dangerous chance came through Abdo Jaber’s weak shot, which went straight at the keeper.
The second half was much more entertaining, with Al Fateh opening up more trying to catch the home team on the break.
Zamalek loanee and Congo international Kasango Kabango was introduced to make his debut as Mido wanted to strengthen his side’s attack.
However, it was Al Fateh who tested Mohamed Awad first, but the Egyptian was up for the test with a good save from Chenihi.
Unfortunately for the away side, Al Fuhaid was sent off for a bad challenge to give the home side the advantage.
The breakthrough came late in the match, when Kasango proved influential, controlling the ball well and crossing it across goal to Guilherme, who dispatched it brilliantly to put the hosts in front late in stoppage time.
It wasn’t over there, Al Wehda were awarded a penalty in stoppage time and when Kasango stepped up his penalty was saved, despite that Al Wehda still came out with the win.
The win moves Al Wehda back to fourth, whilst Al Fateh are still struggling in eleventh, not far off the relegation places.
