Liverpool end losing streak following win over Brighton
Liverpool have been struggling since the start of the year as they lost their past two games. The first one came against Manchester City in the league, then they were knocked out of the FA Cup following a 2-1 lost to Wolves.
The first clear opportunity came in the 27th minute with a Shaqiri header that went just wide.
Two minutes into the second half Salah took a shot inside the penalty area after a great individual effort but it was easily saved by goalkeeper David Button.
Then in the 50th minute Salah was awarded a penalty after he was brutally tackled inside the 18 yard box. The Egyptian went to shoot it and scored. He is now the Premier League’s top goalscorer alongside Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal with 14 goals.
In the 58th minute Brighton’s Pascal Gross’ powerful shot was blocked by Fabinho inside the penalty area.
In the 75th minute Firmino took a very powerful shot outside the penalty area but it was saved by Button.
Five minutes later Wijnaldum attempted a shot but it just went wide.
In the 88th minute Salah missed an easy chance after Robertson passed him a precise ball inside the penalty area.
The Reds are currently on top of the Premier League table with 57 points, seven more than title holders Manchester City who have one game in hand. They will face 14th placed Crystal Palace in their next game on January 19.
